Asymmetrical Balance- Gaines

Unfortunately my photos of the different stages of this piece were lost after I broke my phone over break. If you look closely you can see where i pasted new pieces on top of others.

(Please keep in mind that all these pieces are meant to be vertical. I could not figure out how to turn them)

I feel as though this design interprets a feeling of anxiety due to the harshness of the shapes due to the points.  The pointed edges give a feeling of uneasiness.

I find that this piece has potential to express a feeling of calmness.  Due to the balance of the straight lines and squares, I feel as though it gives a feeling of balance and "homey-ness".  Although I did not purposely make it look as though it is a fireplace, after creating it I saw the resemblance.  Maybe that's why it feels like home?

This creation makes me feel excited, as though leaving for summer break.  The swirls and curved features remind me of the ocean and sun, thus giving me a relaxed but happy and excited feeling resembling my anticipation for the upcoming season.

This piece I find does not particularly show as much strength as the others I have created.  Although I like the design, for the purpose of this project I do not feel it exemplifies the balance and tactics that are meant for the assignment.  While I used all varieties of shapes and angles required, I feel that it could have much stronger value.

Blog Entry 1

In my drawings I attempted to create implied lines.  Because I did the microphone, I felt that I could utilize both the placement of the microphone and the cord attached to make the viewers eye move across the page.  By placing the microphone on an angle and the cord appearing to move down and then to the left, I feel as though I successfully make the viewers eyes move from the top left of the page to the bottom right, and back to the left and up.  In other words, a full circle is created.

Continuity can also be seen in my drawings in the curve of both the cord of the microphone and the microphone itself.  The separate curves have the same fluid motion of a curved zig-zag.  These curves create a connection between the microphone and the cord it is attached to.

Line Drawing.
The teacher gave me an idea to draw objects within the lines. I didnt want to take his idea so i used another one. I decided that the object i used looks like a bong. So i drew a bong and gave the rest of the picture a trippy hippy theme to it.

This was a bitch!

My second of the line drawing. I was putting too much time into them so I had to put less time into the rest.

Masterpiece!

This was my fist of the line drawings. It took forever. Therefore, I had to put less time in the rest of the line drawings.

The Color One.
I thought it was cool.

Revised One.
Beautiful!

narrative.
I couldn't figure out how to rotate it. Sorry. This might be a little hard to understand but its a snow boarder with a big head/ego, and he is hitting the slopes while fans take pictures. As he is in the air, he notices a portal that he is heading towards. You notice a UFO in the background. They are experimenting.

He enters the portal and ends up in space. Assuming what happens on The Simpsons is real, as he enters space with no helmet his head grows big (Big Head/Ego) and eventually pops. I hate when that happens.

Hmm ...

Chair in space.
I just made that up.

I tried something different here. I Didn't follow the rules and the teacher reluctantly accepted. I dont think he was impressed.
